About the Project

Some rooms ask you to admire them. The best ones invite you to stay.

This Austin kitchen balances polished Santorini quartzite with honed Virginia Mist granite, pairing light and dark surfaces with warm wood and softly layered neutrals. Rather than asking one material to carry the room, the contrast gives each surface a role of its own while keeping the overall palette calm and connected.

It’s a reminder that choosing stone isn’t only about how a room photographs. It’s about how you want to live in it.

A room can feel cohesive without every surface being the same. Here, polished Santorini quartzite brings movement and brightness, while honed Virginia Mist granite adds depth and a quieter counterpoint.

Together, they create contrast without competition—the kind that makes a neutral room feel layered rather than predictable.

Sometimes the right answer isn’t choosing between two stones. It’s knowing where each one belongs.
